Suns Extend Contracts of Iavaroni, Weber

Posted: Feb. 24, 2005

The Phoenix Suns today signed assistant coaches Marc Iavaroni and Phil Weber to two-year contract extensions.

Suns Head Coach Mike D’Antoni and his three bench assistants (Iavaroni, Alvin Gentry, Weber) are now all under contract through the 2006-07 season.

Iavaroni, a 14-year veteran of the NBA as a player or coach, is in his third season as an assistant coach for Phoenix. Weber, who has the longest tenure with the club of any Suns coach, is in his sixth season with the team.

The Suns (42-13), who trail the San Antonio Spurs (42-12) for the NBA’s best record by only one-half game, are already 24 games ahead of their pace from last season (18-37). The Suns entire starting five of Steve Nash, Shawn Marion, Amaré Stoudemire, Joe Johnson and Quentin Richardson recently represented the organization at the 2005 All-Star Weekend in Denver, Colo.
